Because cell phones, iPods, and other electronic devices have the capacity to send text messages, take pictures, and access the internet, their, “….ability to create classroom disruptions and problematic situations has increased significantly.” (Roncalli Student Handbook). For this reason, cell phones are not permitted during the school day or at Aftercare without the consent of a teacher/administrator/supervisor.
If a parent feels it is necessary for a student to carry a cell phone to school in order to contact a parent after school, the cell phone must remain in a student’s book bag and be turned off until the student has been dismissed for the day.
Students who have cell phones during school or at Aftercare, without permission from a teacher, will have the phones confiscated, will serve a detention, and the parent will have to come to school to pick up the phone.
We appreciate your support. Thank you.
