Service and Leadership
Service is fundamental to who we are at St. Barnabas School. Hallmarks include monthly service projects, service-hour requirements in grades 6-8, and school-wide Days of Service for all students and staff. St. Barnabas students raise money for charity through our fall walk-a-thon. This year, our students brought in over 12,000 cans to support local food banks. Through our St. Nick Stocking project, we were able to donate hygiene items, hats, and gloves to those in need. St. Barnabas students volunteer at many different locations throughout the city including: Anna's House, The Good House, St. Vincent DePaul, the Holy Trinity food bank, and local nursing homes.
Leadership opportunities take many forms at St. Barnabas School. Seventh and Eighth grade Student Leaders collaborate with school leaders and share ideas for school improvement and serve the school in a variety of other ways as needed. Our National Junior Honor Society recognizes students who are academic leaders. Students have the opportunity to lead in CYO Sports and on stage through mini-musicals and our spring theater productions. Weekly class meetings and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program encourage students to be leaders in the way we treat one another.
